Tervetuloa! Welcome!

“The sauna is the poor man’s pharmacy.”

That’s the traditional Finnish saying. The Finns learned years ago that the sauna is not just a bath; it provides a sense of psychological peace and contentment as well as physical rejuvenation. Many people claim that the sauna relieves the symptoms of minor illnesses such as colds, revives the muscles after tough physical exertion, and clears the body of toxins.

The Uljas Koitto Temperance Society promotes temperance, morality, and healthy living through the benefits and virtues of the traditional Finnish sauna.  Founded by Finnish immigrants in 1892, the UKTS provides an environment free from the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or legal recreational drugs.

The UKTS is a membership organization. We are a welcoming society and invite those interested in learning more about the UKTS to use the Visit Us form on this website. Those who are currently part of the UKTS (Friends & Members), their invited guests, as well as visitors who make arrangements with us ahead of time are welcome to use our facilities.

Requests must be received by Thursday. Space is limited and not all dates may be available for visits so please plan ahead. The sauna is getting busy again! Attendance has been higher earlier in the day so if you want to have a bit more room plan to arrive at 4PM or later.
