About Us
The Uljas Koitto ("Noble Endeavor") Temperance Society was founded in Quincy Massachusetts in 1892 to discourage the use of alcohol and illicit drugs and inform about Finnish Culture, we have maintained our mission for over 100 years and are registered with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as non-profit organization.
Our central building(s) and grounds are located in Pembroke, Massachusetts on Furnace Pond which provide society members and the public:
- A welcome respite from a complex life
- The use of a genuine wood-fired Finnish "dry" Sauna
- Dinners, suppers, and other social events
- A moral atmosphere free of alcohol and illicit drugs.
